Students at work at my Cricket weaving class on Saturday, March 3, 2018. What a wonderful group I had Saturday afternoon. The image at the top shows their work right after it came off the loom.  The samples were cut apart and each student set to work tying the fringes on the their completed samples. Nice woven work!

June10CricketHere’s what I am considering for the June 10 Cricket class at EWE Fibers on West Main Street: color, texture, simplicity, and design.  Soon I’ll be assembling yarns and preparing a warp for the 15-inch Cricket loom my students will use for weaving. June 10 is the last Cricket class until September. Registration is open online at and class size is limited.

April 1 Cricket ClassApril 1, 2017 Cricket Class at EWE Fibers from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Here’s the warp, and some of the weft yarns. I will be teaching my five students how to warp a rigid heddle loom, how to weave on the loom, and how to use stick and boat shuttles. Each person will take home a finished woven sample of work.  A glossary of weaving terms, and a recipe card that reflects the work done on loom, as well as the outline for an at-home weaving project, are all part of the lesson. This will be fun! And the class is sold out!

akroseblue1I’ve been working with a boat shuttle on my rigid heddle loom, and it makes for a beautiful weave. This latest runner used mixed fibers with lots of texture from my stash. I will be teaching my April 1 students how to wind a bobbin for this shuttle and how to use it to weave on the Cricket loom. Sign up for the next Saturday afternoon Cricket class at EWE Fibers. April 1 session runs from 2-5 p.m. and class size is limited.

225cricketclassI have just prepared the 15-inch wide Cricket Loom for the February 25th class!  I’ll be teaching my students on Saturday how to warp and weave on rigid heddle looms, and two looms will be used during class time. One of the great pleasures in weaving on rigid heddle looms is the chance to use unusual yarns, yarns with texture, and yarns with character. Each student will weave a sample on this warp, and take it home. This is going to be fun!

akewecricketworkingWow! The February 25, 2017 Cricket Class is sold out already! There are still places in the March 7th class, which is offered during the evening from 5-8. If you are one of those who want to know how to weave on a Cricket Loom, this is the class for you. Go to EWE Fibers and sign up today! Cricket Looms will be on sale during class times.
